Summary:
The Survey Technician II performs intermediate-level surveying tasks with limited supervision. This
role is responsible for collecting accurate field data, setting and verifying control points, and
performing construction staking for RES Solar, T&D, and Preconstruction projects. Survey Technician II supports operational efficiency, safety, and adherence to RES quality standards.
In the capacity of executing all on-site surveying activities, the Survey Technician II ensures the
successful and timely completion of the surveying project within the scope of work.
Requirements:
- Performs accurate construction layout, topographic surveys, and as-built data collection.
- Establishes and verifies control points and benchmarks.
- Operates GPS, total stations, data collectors, and UAV equipment as directed.
- Manages and maintains assigned survey equipment and supplies.
- Communicates effectively with Crew Chief to plan daily tasks and resolve field issues.
- Maintains accurate notes and logs of survey activities.
- Identifies discrepancies in field data and report findings to Crew Chief.
- Assists with drone flight operations and data capture.
- Operates company vehicles and equipment safely in varying site and weather conditions.
- Attends work regularly and punctually, as scheduled or expected.
- Complies with Employee Handbook, Code of Conduct, and Company Policies & Procedures.
- Presents, supports, and leads-by-example with a safety and quality-oriented attitude.
- Practices all required safety and quality standards set by RES.
- Identifies and reports potential hazards immediately.
- Participates in daily safety meetings and toolbox talks.
- Wears all required PPE and ensures equipment is inspected prior to use.
Safety:
- Ensures that safety is the most important function, follows safe practices while working.
- Reinforces safe behaviors and eliminates “at risk” behaviors.
- Reports potentially unsafe conditions and uses materials and equipment properly.
- Ensures Job Hazard Analysis (JHA’s) occurs before scopes of work commence.
- Adheres to and understands standard operating procedures.
- Receives job- and task-specific training prior to work commencing.
- Follows technical, quality and safety systems in place and determines appropriate action.
- Follows safety and security procedures and determines appropriate action. Reports potentially unsafe conditions and uses materials and equipment properly.
Qualifications:
- Intermediate level of knowledge in:
- Intermediate knowledge of surveying methods and equipment operation.
- Proficient in GPS data collection and control setup.
- Understanding coordinate systems, file types, and data transfer processes.
- Capable of problem-solving and making field adjustments independently.
- Demonstrates strong communication skills.
- Basic knowledge of drone flight operations preferred (Part 107 License a plus).
Education:
Highschool/GED General Preferred
Part 107 License Preferred
Work Experience:
1 year or more Construction Surveying Required
Anticipated base salary range: $24/hr. - $28/hr.
The final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location.
Per Diem of $95.00 daily to cover lodging, meals and travel during rotation.
